Introduction to Issue Twelve

A Note from the Editors

Here in June, at the height of summer, we are reminded of summers past, of their tall grass and golden afternoons, their fireflies and humid nights. Like this season, Issue Twelve hums with memory, with moments and landscapes that have formed us but which might still be forming themselves.

Whether in the countryside or at sea, in train stations, basketball courts, or deserts, our contributors invite you to look back while also becoming. You might experience a sudden kind of shaping, like being pulled up from water towards the sun, or you might find an almost imperceptible movement over years, perhaps millennia, like a rock formation slowly carved out by time and impact. You might even find yourself contemplating constancy in an uncertain future, the way amber still holds a story from eons ago or seeds scattered today might bloom for decades to come.

As you guide yourself through this issue, we hope that you will immerse yourself fully, exploring what once was, becoming a part of what could be.
